GEOINFORMATICS ASSISTED EPIDEMIOLOGICAL MONITORING
A doctoral level (PhD) Research at Cyprus University of Technology. Through the geographical study of human activity dynamic characteristics, this research attempts to model the effects of spatio-temporal behavior of individuals during the transmission and spread of the infectious COVID19 disease. The primary research focus is on human mobility, while Cyprus is the geographical area of study.

Developed in March 2020, this Web Map was the first covering both Greece and Cyprus with daily updates on number of new cases. All data come from the Ministries of Health of Italy, Greece and Cyprus.
One month later and after the development of higher quality platforms from local authorities, there was no need to maintenance this service so the project was discontinued on 13/04/2020.

The QGIS Cyprus initiative
The aim of this initiative is to build the Cypriot QGIS community of Users and Developers and spread the knowledge through organized meetings, meet-ups and focused events like hack-days, workshops and seminars. While the focus is on QGIS we hope to build links with other open-source oriented groups and encourage users to get more involved in coding while integrating with other great open-source Geo-applications.
