Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat)

CYSTAT is mainly concerned with the initiation, organization and carrying out of various censuses, sample surveys and statistical enquiries of an economic, demographic, social or environmental content and the publication of the results, with the intention both of assisting the government in policy-making and planning, and the statistical information of the private sector the general public. At the same time, CYSTAT acts as a coordinator in cases where other institutions (such as the Central Bank, other Ministries and Government Departments and semi-Government organizations) pursue work of a statistical nature for the collection of data of direct interest to the area of their activity.

The European INSPIRE Directive (2007/2/EK) aims to create a European Union (EU) spatial data infrastructure. This will enable the sharing of spatial information among public sector organisations and better facilitate public access to spatial information across Europe. INSPIRE GeoPortal of Cyprus make it possible to discover, transform, view and download spatial data and to invoke spatial data and e-commerce services according to the INSPIRE Directive.
